How to Clean Your Invisalign Trays

Published on April 13th, 2018

If you’ve invested in Invisalign in the South Loop, you’re well on your way to a straight, beautiful smile. But it’s essential that you put the time and effort into making sure your Invisalign trays stay clean and odor-free. Not to mention they should stay clear! If you ignore proper upkeep, bacteria can build up and you may find your trays turning a different color and smelling bad. Yuck, nobody wants that! Here’s how to properly care for your Invisalign in South Loop.

Please Do…

” Rinse them upon removal to get rid of saliva and plaque. If you don’t, bacteria will begin to build up.
” Take care of your mouth without your trays in! Routine brushing and flossing are key to your oral health. Once you’ve finished your Invisalign process, you want your teeth to be healthy and ready to go.
” Use clear anti-bacterial soap to clean your Invisalign trays. This will get rid of bad bacteria and keep the clear color intact.
” Gently brush your trays to ensure they stay clean without leaving brush marks.

Please Don’t…

” Drink or eat anything besides water with your trays in! This could cause staining and discoloration.
” Use toothpaste. This may sound strange, but toothpaste can be harsh and dull your aligners, and even create small pockets for bacteria to dwell.
” Use colored soaps to wash them as it can change the color of your Invisalign trays.
” Keep your trays unexposed on the table, as this can cause germs and bacteria in the air to get on them.
