Everyone can have

South Loop Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric dentists specialize in the oral health of children’s various stages of childhood from infancy to their teen years. With extensive training, these specialists understand children are not always going to be cooperative and patient during a dental exam. At South & West Loop Dental, Dr. Djukic and Dr. Azim have the training and knowledge to treat children that will make them feel safe and comfortable while providing the best possible care. Without proper oral health & dental care, children have the chance of having oral decay and disease that will only cause them pain and bigger issues when they are an adult. It’s also important to teach the right dental hygiene habits while they are young.

Children start to get their first teeth at around 6 months old and by the age of 6 or 7 years, they start to lose their first set of teeth. These teeth are replaced by their secondary, permanent teeth. A pediatric dentist has taken extra training in order to possess the qualifications to care for a child’s teeth, gums, and mouth through all the different stages of childhood.

It is important and recommended to get them into a pediatric dentist by their first birthday. Your dentist will recommend annual or bi-annual visits to complete a routine checkup and cleaning, and x-rays, while checking for other dental problems. It is also important to have an early assessment of improper bites caused by habits like thumb sucking and/or pacifier use. If a problem with is detected, Dr. Azim or Dr. Djukic will make an orthodontic recommendation to correct the problem early, preventing it from getting worse and resulting in bigger problems as an adult. Our dental professionals are also trained and experienced in all pediatric dental injuries such as fractured, chipped, lost, or broken teeth. At South & West Loop Dental, our team makes it a priority to establish the importance of dental hygiene at an early age to ensure proper oral health when they are an adult.

If you have an infant that is ready for their first exam, a young child that lost their first tooth, or a teenager self conscience of their smile, make an appointment with Dr. Azim or Dr. Djukic at South & West Loop Dental in the South West Loop/West Pilsen area.
